Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary is an ecologically sensitive area, well-known as the "green lung of Kochi". The vast mangrove vegetation and the variety of migratory bird species that it houses, make this bird sanctuary the favourite haunt of bird lovers and nature enthusiasts. The mangrove vegetation covers almost 18 acres of this sanctuary. The shallow crystal -clear lake amidst this greenery adorns this place. You can experience the panoramic view of the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary from its beautiful watchtower. An interesting thing about this place is that the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department conducts free nature camp at this sanctuary to explore the nature at its fullest.
