Cochin - Kodanad Elephant Training Centre

Cochin - Kodanad Elephant Training Centre

The Kodanad Elephant Training Center is one of the largest elephant training centres in Kerala, located in Kodanad, on the banks of Periyar River. The stranded adult and baby elephants which are rescued from the forest regions across Kerala are trained at this centre. The elephants which are trained are used for forestry works like transporting logs of woods from one place to another, exploring the jungles and for elephant safari. Kodanad is known for its elephant rescue centre - ‘Elephant Kraal’, the small wildlife park which inhabits deer and other wildlife animals, and its access via river boats to Malayattoor which is a seasonal pilgrimage centre. The walkways beside the river give a unique experience to the visitors.
