Alleppey - Edathua Church

Edathua Church is a 200-year-old expansive shrine located on the banks of Pamba river. Built in 1810, it looks alike churches of medieval Europe. This church is dedicated to St. George and is known as St. George Forane Church or “Eduthua Palli”. The annual feast, popularly known as "Edathua Perunnal" is the major celebration of this church. This annual feast is celebrated on or around 7th May every year during which the gold statue of St. George is placed on a dais in the middle of the Church for 11 days. It is believed that the Edathua Church has the miraculous power to cure mental disorders and other ailments. Thousands of visitors both Christians and non-Christians visit this church for miraculous cures.
