Mount Carmel Church in Munnar is the first Catholic Church in the high-ranges, known to everyone as the "Life Of Pie Church" as it was the main setting for the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Life of Pi’. This church was established by Father Alphonse of the Spanish Missionary in the year 1898. After his demise, his body was buried in the same church. This church is the prime spectator in the modernization of Munnar from a simple tea plantation estate to a well-known tourist destination in South India.
