With artistically carved massive doors and walls, the Thalassery Fort is an ancient monument which has a square shape with indestructibly flanking bastions and secret tunnels to the sea. This massive Fort is also known as Tellicherry Fort. The Fort is located on a rocky cliff near the Thalassery Beach offering a great picnic spot to the tourists. This monument was built by the British East India Company as a testimony of their colonial imperialism. It is now looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India. The fort houses a gallery that displays ancient paintings and pictures of caves and monuments.
